As Georgia O’Keeffe said, “When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it’s your world for a moment.” In my world, flowers, plants, and vegetables photographed close-up reveal their secrets in a variety of enchanting ways.
After I photograph natural world images, I often digitally enhance them to bring out the mystical quality of the photograph. I work with digital filters the way a painter may use a paintbrush. The photographs often encourage me to create a lush still life or a colorful abstract piece of art. At New York’s School Of Visual Arts, I learned that the freedom to take risks is vital to art-making.
I am the co-owner of a boutique ad agency where I am an art-director and photographer. I live and work in Serenbe, a progressive, nationally-known community centered around the arts. It is located in the Chattahoochee Hills of Georgia. I can be reached at 404-993-7259 or www.januarymoonphotography.com
